Ready to Join Troop 50?

Troop 50 open to scouts of all faiths, backgrounds and ethnicities. We embrace diversity. BSA policy also encourages Scouts to maintain an interest and participate actively in their own religious preference.

Getting Started

Welcome!  If your son has already been in a scout program, he will already have a BSA ID number.  You will want to write that number down.  However, prior participation in Cub Scouting is not required. To join Scouts BSA, the scout must be eleven years of age, completed 5th grade, or at least 10 years of age, and earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light.

To Apply:

The Youth Application is best done online, but only if you are brand new to scouting. Here is the link.

If your son has EVER been in a Cub Scout or Scout program, according to the Council Registrar, it's best to use a paper application or ask your Cubmaster to transfer you to Troop 50B.  This will ensure that your scout is not assigned a new ID number and that all scout records are properly transferred.

Annual Fees: Scouts BSA and Golden Empire Council fees are $80 each and Troop 50 charges $100 to cover campsite reservation costs. Scouts BSA also charges a $25 joining fee for new scouts. Here is the link to the paper YOUTH application.

Our official designation is Troop 50B and we are a part of the Three Rivers District in the Golden Empire Council.

Bridging from a Pack?

Again, welcome!  Our scouts and leaders would like to be there to welcome your scout into the troop.  Please let us know the date, time, and location of the Bridging Ceremony and we will make every effort to be there.

Transferring From Another Troop?

We accept and welcome transfers.  It is very important that a transferring scout obtain documents from his former troop, such as records of advancement, merit badge accomplishments, hiking and camping records, service project hours, etc.  If the former troop used Scoutbook, records should transfer as long as BSA ID numbers are entered correctly on the paper Youth Application.
